One certainly can't fault this Macau cemetary for being to somber. The chapel and all the cemetary walls are bathed in this cheery mint chip ice cream color.
IMG_0958.JPG
One of the many examples of Chinese and Portuguese cultures blending in Macau: the tombstones in the cemetary were a mishmash of more Asian style vertical pillars and more western-style slab headstones and gravestones.

Besides serving as an open-air "water closet" for dogs, this area is a good place to take your pet canary out for a stroll. I can't decide whether it is nice to give them fresh air or cruel to tease them with proximity to their natural habitat without actually freeing them.

Kind of hard to see, but I am suspending the camera from a tree branch using the ingenious JOBY device that the Sara and Jimmy Culleton family gave us. I fiddled with the thing for so long that a kind German tourist walked over and said, "Uh... can I take your picture for you?" No! Scram, lady!

The JOBY in action again!

We have stuck our respective heads into holes in cardboard to look like all sorts of things before-- Bugs Bunny, bodybuilders, etc. King and Queen of imperial Portugal is a new one on us.

Cathy in front of the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral in Macau, which dates back to the early days of Portuguese rule.

This narrow shopping alley in Macau seemed to be bustling at all times.

Senado Square in downtown Macau, a European-style open-air pedestrian mall, congregation point, and public art space. Who's that blurry lady approaching me to the right, you ask?
IMG_0988.JPG
... why it's Cathy, of course!

Busloads of Chinese tourists hang out at Hac Sa beach, on the southernmost tip of Macau, on a breezy 70-degree day. Most are wearing slacks and a blazer.
IMG_0995.JPG
Unbelievable. Not a single pair of shorts on the entire beach. Nary a short-sleeved shirt.

At this souvenir stand on Hac Sa beach, BUSINESS IS HOPPIN'!!!

I belonged to a flying eagle association when I was a kid.

Ever felt like your local supermarket has an insufficient supply of whole dried fish? Maybe you should move to Coloanne, Macau.

Cathy makes an appearance on smash hit DVD "Coloanne Girls Gone Wild!!!"

I love the buildings in Macau. So much pastel!

This style of custard tart supposedly originated in this bakery, Lord Stow's, in the sleepy village of Coloanne, Macau; it went on to became popular throughout southeast Asia. Tourists can buy boxes and boxes of them to share with friends back home. Me? I ain't sharing squat.

From a distance I thought this was an ad for some sort of antiseptic wipe. Then it becomes clear that like RU-486, RU-21 is a "morning after pill" of sorts to cure your hangover, and it's an "alcohol cleaner" in the sense that it cleans alcohol out of your body.
